Privacy policy

How NearBase handles information. Updated October 2026.

School listings

Preschool names, locations, and the public notes on each profile are published for families to read. They are not private.

Email updates

If you type your email into a “Keep me posted” box, that address is sent through the form service that hosts this site (Netlify) to Kelly Brown at kellybrown@nearbase.net. It is used to send the updates described on the form. NearBase does not sell email addresses.

School claim form

Directors who claim a school send their name, role, work email, phone, school facts, and photos. Those go to the same form service and to Kelly, so she can verify the claim and update the public profile. Please do not upload photos of children unless you have permission to share them.

Check-ins and rankings

The pay-it-forward check-in, each rankings vote, and each research-mode vote on the quiz are saved in this browser so you can still export them. A copy of the same answers is sent to Kelly through the form service that hosts this site (Netlify). Those forms do not ask for your name, email, or any other way to identify you. Clearing your browser data removes the copy on your device. It does not delete the copy Kelly already received.

Accounts

There is no family account or password on the public site yet. “Sign in / Join free” on the search page explains Premium and leads to the waitlist. It does not create an account.

Founder dashboard

The founder editing page is not part of the public site. It asks for a password that is stored in Netlify, not in the website files.
